Swim Meet Volunteers Needed for October 19/20

Hello Norac Families:

Our first home meet is coming up quickly and we need lots of help to make it a smooth and successful meet, with lots of fun for our swimmers.

Please let me know if you are willing to help out on deck in the various positions and what position you would like to do with appropriate training.

If anyone is looking for a sign off, please indicate that and we will try to accommodate you.

As always, this is a great opportunity to earn points and requests will be filled first come, first served.

This is the best way to see your swimmers and support their team mates. They always love having their families on deck and near the action.

Thank you for considering to spend a little time helping your club.

Feel free to message me if there are any questions.

Heads Up – Officals help for High School Swim Meets

Hello all,

Just received a request for assistance with the local High School Swim Meets again this year. Dates this year are:

– Thursday December 12th- PHHS Invitational

– Wednesday February 12th – Kawartha Championship Meet

NORAC Officials have been providing assistance at these meets for several years and our help is truly appreciated.

Both of these meets will be held at the Jack Burger Sports Complex. Start time is usually about 10 am and finished by 2 ish.

If you are only able to help with 1, the February one is the most important. More details will be provided as we get closer to the date.

If you know of anyone else with some swim meet experience (or willingness to learn) that may be able to help, please pass this note along to them.

NORAC Home Meet Food Sign up for Oct 19/20

Good afternoon NORAC families,

The October home meet is coming up in a couple of weeks (Oct 19/20). The easiest way for our club to make money is hosting home swim meets. NORAC takes great pride in running a smooth swim meet and providing great food for officials and coaches. That’s food for 30 – 40 officials and coaches! NORAC will be hosting two other clubs at this swim meet, so let’s show them what great hosts we are. This is an easy way to earn 20 points for the Family Participation Policy.

Below is the link to the sign-up document for food needed for the swim meet. Instructions are on the document.

If you are signing up to bring something, here are few things to remember:

– Please have your food at the pool on time, between 10:45 – 11:00 a.m. on the day that you signed up for. Warm up is 11:30 a.m.

– Time is needed for setting up, so please have your DISPOSABLE PLATES ready to serve officials and coaches when you bring it to the pool. (like you would have ready for guests in your own home)

– Please choose only one item from the list, as we want to give everyone a chance to earn 20 points.

Here is the link to the document:

Thanks to everyone who signs up!

Intro to Officials Clinic Tues Oct 8, 2019, 5:30-7PM

Good Morning!

Annette has offered to run an introduction to officiating clinic on Tuesday October 8 from 5:30-7pm.
It will be held in the community room at Jack Burger Sports Complex.

This is a great opportunity for parents, grandparents and siblings (of 13 years of age) to help out Norac and be on deck to cheer on the swimmers.

The training consists of an overview of what officials do during swim meets. This allows you to gain participation points during your training as well as on deck during swim meets. Many people go on to complete additional training which is valuable to running successful meets.

Please consider spending some time to help out our club and ensuring that our meets are a success.
Please fell free to respond to myself or Annette and as always, we are available to answer any questions.

Thanks so much,
Heather Stratford

Fall 2019 Warmup Meet – Oct 19/20

Hi everyone,

Our first home meet will be here before we know it! Oct 19&20th. This is a great opportunity for new and returning swimmers to get “their feet wet” lol in the comfort of our own pool.

The cost to participate is $20 per swimmer. Please send an e-transfer to Annette. with the password meetfees. You can also send her a lump sum at anytime and she will keep track of your meet fees and let you know when you need to top up your account.

Please email me back to confirm by Oct 1st, the sooner the better, so that I can get the entries started. As this is our home meet, I would like all swimmers to participate.

I have attached the meet package and I will be discussing with the swimmers their suggested events.

Thank you.

Norac – Montreal Meet 2020

Hi everyone,
We have just returned from the Montreal Samak International Meet held at Jean-Drapeau Parc. This is an amazing facility where the previous World Championships were held. It is an outdoor facility and all of our attendees loved the pool and the meet.
I am requesting spots at the Montreal meet for 2020 this week. If you are interested, please let me know by Friday June 28th. There is a $10 deposit required per swimmer that I have to send in to the club. If you are interested, please send $10 per swimmer to Annette by e-transfer password is meetfees.
Please send me a confirmation email as well indicating which of your swimmers will be attending.
Going by this year there were no standards for 13 and over. There are standards for 11&12 year olds to participate in the 3 day meet. 11&12, and 10 and under could qualify to participate in the development meet which was held on the Saturday only.
Thank you!
